About Shak Okoebor

I’m Shak Okoebor, a child psychologist and sports therapist passionate about helping people grow through challenges. Whether I’m working with kids navigating school and home life or athletes pushing their mental edge, my goal is the same: to create space for honesty, resilience, and real change.

In my work with children and families, spanning more than 17 years, I support issues such as ADHD, anxiety, emotional regulation, social comparison, and behavioral challenges. I provide therapy in schools and through my private practice, and I also consult with educators and school teams to help build environments where kids can thrive. My approach is grounded in Natural Environment Training, meaning I don’t sit across from kids in an office; I meet them where they are. Whether that’s in the classroom, on the playground, or navigating daily routines, I use real-life moments as opportunities for meaningful growth and lasting learning.

My work with athletes – from school-aged to professional – focuses on mindset and performance. As a former professional football player, I understand the pressures of competition from the inside out. For over 10 years, I’ve worked one-on-one with athletes across disciplines to build confidence, recover from setbacks, and stay mentally strong under pressure. Just like with kids, I don’t stay behind a desk. I get on the field, in the gym, or wherever the athlete trains, helping them develop mental tools in the environments where they perform.

At the heart of everything I do is a relationship-driven approach grounded in honesty and depth. I believe in the power of reflection and resilience, because tough times don’t last, but tough people do.
