School & Child Services
Supporting Students, Empowering Educators
Shak Okoebor partners with independent and private schools to support the emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs of students, while also helping educators and school teams navigate the daily challenges of working with children.
As a child psychologist with nearly two decades of experience, Shak brings a grounded, relationship-driven approach to every interaction. In addition to his work with schools, he runs a private practice where he supports children, teens, and families navigating developmental and behavioral challenges. His school-based work is informed by this broader clinical lens, offering a uniquely holistic perspective.
HOW SHAK SUPPORTS SCHOOLS
Shak works with students from kindergarten through 12th grade and offers a range of services tailored to the needs of each school community:
Shak incorporates the Natural Environment Training (NET) method, meaning he doesn’t see students in an office setting. Instead, he works with them in the real world, on the playground, in the classroom, or during daily activities. This hands-on, organic approach transforms everyday scenarios into natural learning opportunities.
“Shak's technique of incorporating Natural Environment Training sets him apart from those therapists relying on classic ABA methods. He has a knack for utilizing everyday scenarios that arise during a child's regular day as opportunities for learning. In doing this, the child learns organically, is self-motivated, and retains information better.” - Marla C.

“Shak not only possesses exceptional knowledge of the challenges and behaviors of autistic children, he is able to effectively implement behavioral strategies within minutes of meeting a child. He instantly connects with all children, as he highly respects each child's uniqueness and capabilities.”

“Shak has the unique ability to process a situation, make a decision based on what he saw and then put a plan in place instantly. To put a sports twist on it, he has the ability to read the offense and change the defense to get a better result for our son. The best part is that our son has no idea it's happening and he gains confidence within himself.”
